Ten Day Old Budgies

...just pulled from the nest... I think they're adorable...not everyone agrees I know. Even at this age they have personalities. The younger one (barely younger) is the feisty one. He's now called Ozzy. The older one is now Benny. At this young age they both cried hungrily for food and ate like piranhas...if the syringe was empty they went for my finger tips. Or one would try to pull the syringe out of the other's mouth...very entertaining.
They have really tiny beaks so no pain was experienced-just laughs.

Rock-a-Bye-Budgie

...still waiting to see what colour they'll be...

Baby Yellow

So baby"Yellow" was a very enthusiastic eater. She's all grown up now and gone to her forever home. She's now Lily's new best bud...and her name is "Bernice"...same as Bert's pigeon!

Pied Baby

This little one was known as "Yellow" to us. She is the youngest in the clutch and was much smaller than her three older siblings.

Snuggle Time

We're all pink here

These babies are sooooooooooo sweet. They were hand fed from only a few days old. .. at first every three hours.

The mother bird layed seven eggs so the nest was rather crowded. I have included a picture of the parents - mommy dilute yellow and daddy a beautiful pasel green. Both of these birds have a lovely gentle nature too.

The oldest three babies were pulled and then a day later baby number four was pulled(pictured with the penny in older post). They were all very tiny but such little troopers. They really caught on to the feeding and grew so fast. I handled the babies often every day. It was a very enjoyable experience for me. As a result they are very friendly and calm and they really love to be held.
At about three and a half weeks we started introducing solid foods. They absolutely loved Avi-cakes - and still do. We also fed broccoli, corn peas, beans and dried cereals(rice krispies, cheerios and muesli) Their diet also includes seeds, brown rice, pasta and sprouted seeds and beans, and pellets. This keeps them very healthy and it's fun trying new foods with them.

My babies are raised in the main part of my home and are used to lots of different sounds and people. They are quite comfortable with all the household noises - vacuum cleaner, dish washer stereo, piano and various musical intruments and a dog barking.

I'm hoping to find loving homes for these two(two are already sold). They will need daily attention in order to keep their beautiful gentle temperament.

Baby Lovebird pics

Well All the baby birds are weaned and ready for a new home. They are soooooooooo sweet and lovable. All of them have the most gentle and loving nature. When I'm near their cage they start pacing back and forth until I open the door and out they come. There's never any need to "coax" them out. They really love being around people. This lovebird clutch had four babies in it but one is already gone to his new home. The three oldest babies are green and the youngest is pied. The parents are both very lovely gentle birds - mother is a soft dilute yellow and dad is a pastel green.
